The Principles of Beautiful Web Design
- The “Grid Theory” is a logical guidelines for the design of beautiful designs. The concept came from the observation of nature and its natural patterns. Pythagoras and his follower refered to these patterns as the golden ratio or divine proportion. A line can be bisected using the golden ratio by dividing its lenghts by an irrational number (1.6180339).
The “Grid Theory” is important to graphic design because this theory give us a way to compose, where every component like lines and proportions are aesthetically admirable.
- Symetrical Balance, asymetrical balance, unity, proximity, repetition, emphasis, placement, continuance, isolation, contrast, and proportion are design principles very important to web design.
- “Bread and Butter Layouts” are the standard layouts of design and composition. These standard layouts include: left-column navigation, right-column navigation, and three-column navigation.
All art is but imitation of nature.
